Breaking Through Industry Challenges! Hebei Steel's Tinplate Substrate Oil Coating Control Technology Takes Another Leap

Recently, Hebei Steel Group's Hengban Packaging successfully delivered a custom batch of 0.17mm*906.2mm tinplate substrates with oil coating to a major client in South China. This delivery achieved a breakthrough in the industry's standard oil coating quantity, surpassing the previous upper limit of 50±3 mg/㎡ for both sides of the strip. Additionally, the product's flatness and edge wave indicators have exceeded industry standards, making it suitable for the production of key components in automotive and motorcycle parts, as well as custom-shaped components.

The oil-coated tinplate substrate is one of Hengban Packaging's high-end products, and its core technology is at the forefront of domestic standards. The product holds a significant market share in South and East China. Hengban Packaging is deeply engaging with the market and clients, enhancing technological upgrades, and gradually expanding the range of high-end products. The company is continually investing in new industries and niche markets within the tinplate sector, focusing on developing high-end and customized products and clients, accelerating the establishment of new competitive advantages, and achieving in-depth optimization of the product structure.

The client set stringent requirements for this batch of orders. The oil-coated tinplate substrate had to be free of any defects such as edge waves, rust spots, or internal core L-bends. Specifically, the oil coating quantity was strictly controlled to meet the industry's upper limit of 50±3 mg/㎡ on both sides. To address these requirements, Hengban Packaging's technical team intensified their innovative efforts and explored optimal solutions. They re-optimized the installation position of the blade beam, adjusted the horizontal alignment of the tungsten wire, and ensured that the high-pressure control of the blade beam was maintained within precise ranges. Additionally, the speed values from the variable frequency drive of the metering pump were incorporated into the PLC control program. Through repeated adjustments of process parameters and optimization of equipment functions, the bottleneck issues related to precise control of oil coating quantities were thoroughly resolved. While ensuring the oil coating effect was excellent, the technical team also focused on six key equipment points, including double bending and straightening, and eleven-roll straightening. These targeted efforts effectively addressed challenges such as edge waves and internal core L-bends, leading to significant improvements in the flatness of the substrates.
